Hello,
The RIC 2014 (Inte
ational Canyon Meeting) was held from the 9th to the 15th of March this month. For this 13th edition, not less than 174 participants (the number was limited) from 13 different countries
gathered in Soller, north of Majorque island for a week of canyoning and exchnages. This year every continent was represented!
The RIC was especially the opportunity to concretize the work that started last year in Madeira island. The inte
ational meeting that was held on the 11h of March decided the creation of the IAAC (Inte
ational Amateur Association of Canyioning).
The Constituent General Assembly has validated the statutes and elected the first bureau of the ssociation. It is composed of 7 members coming from 7 national federations or associations, representing 7 countries
(France, USA, Greece, Portugal, Japan, Spain and Brazil).
A dozen of structures are already members of the IAAC. France & FFS, throught myself, is assuming the first presidency of this new structure which headquarters will be at the FFS offices in Lyon-France.
The object of this association is to gather national structures in order to developp the RIC, but also to promote exchanges between participants and on common topics of development.
The statutes will be deposited in the coming days and a more completed information is being written.
Marc BOUREAU - IAAC President
(note: and former president of the FFS Canyoning commission)
